The Shingletown Medical Center (SMC) will join an estimated 1,000 local groups to celebrate the 23nd Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day (NSHFD). As an official site, Shingletown Medical Center and co-sponsors Redding Subaru and Shasta Community Health Center are hosting the event that will take place on Wednesday, May 25th from 11:00am to 2:00pm. The event will be held on the outside grounds of the Shingletown Volunteer Fire Department, which is 2 miles east of downtown Shingletown directly on Highway 44. The event is free for all ages.
The event will also be hosting a blood drive with BloodSource, give blood and get rewarded! All donors will receive free soup from the Shingletown Community Center (SCC), 5 free raffle tickets and a $5.00 gift certificate to Papa Casey’s Grill. The 2016 theme for the National Senior Health & Fitness Day is “Improve Your Health for a Better Self!” There will be exercise demonstrations from Shasta County’s “Fun with Fitness” group along with an assortment of informational booths, screening services and nutrition advice.
Papa Casey’s Grill will be serving up free healthy sandwich samplings and veggie cups, and booth vendors will have tasty samplings also. There will also be great raffle items such as a full day Shasta Lake patio boat from Bridge Bay Resorts, a 30” Ashcraft fire pit with two Rustic Ridge camo director chairs and many other fun raffle items. The raffle tickets can be purchased at Papa Casey’s Grill, Higher Ground Coffee, Bella Salon, Shingletown Thrift & Gift, Majka Realty and Shingletown Medical Center.
