The Shingletown Medical Center (SMC) hosted its 6th annual Pre-Mother’s Day Spring Tea on Saturday, April 23rd, at Black Butte Jr. High. This year’s theme and decorations were based on the classic Alice in Wonderland character “The Mad Hatter.” The event was a complete success and all attending had great fun and great food.
The room was absolutely stunning with tables decorated by individual table captains. The “Prettiest Table” went to Lynn Escamilla and the “Most Original Table Decoration” to Tami Fraser. Then came the voting for “Prettiest Hat” which went to Kylee Kennedy and “Wackiest Hat” Tami Fraser. As usual, the costumes were classic and the winner for “Prettiest Costume” went to Sadyee Shackelford and “Most Original Costume” to Lois Silverbush
The Stage 44 Players put on entertaining skits and songs based on scenes from “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Mad Hatter” and got the audience singing along. There was professional photographer Lela Carrier, taking photos of mothers and daughters, friend and relatives in front of a stunning backdrop scene and classic tea party décor. Michael Barnes, SMC Medical Assistant, walked table to table creating balloon art for the kids and adults as well.
The delicious food was prepared by Black Butte Elementary School cooks, Denise Murray and Cristina Hillman and their helpers. Everything was table served by waiters and waitresses and the variety of fruits trays, veggie cups, assorted tea sandwiches and the delicious desserts were superb and beautifully displayed.
“Jackie Ferguson, our medical center’s Event Coordinator did a fantastic job, and we are very proud of her dedication and attention to every detail,” stated Tami Fraser, CEO. “We all had such a wonderful fun filled time that I’m looking forward to next year’s event already.”
The Shingletown Medical Center would like to thank its major sponsor; Shasta Regional Medical Center and all the donating companies that supported this event. Also, a huge “Thank You” to all the volunteers that contributed their time and efforts in making this event such a success again this year.
